"I've always liked textures. There's something comforting and familiar in natural materials and our personal, tactile relationship with them.
Coming from a family of craftspeople, handmade objects were always a part of my childhood. This deeply influenced my creativity and curiosity in making things.”
Lucyné Babayan, founder of LERNER
The beginnings
Designed by Lucyné Babayan, it initially started as a little project called Unmute Lucy, where at first, her goal was simple–to create contemporary accessiories that are meaningful.
Later it evolved into LERNER, a brand that connects through stories, objects and lives we create–to cross-pollinate and inspire timezones, continents and hearts.
LERNER stands for highlands in Armenian. Pronounced LehrNehr, it is inspired by William Saroyan’s play “My heart’s in the highlands”. For an Armenian, it captures a certain longing we all carry inside.
The mission
LERNER's mission is to tell stories inspired by culture and identity. It is rooted in Armenian traditions. And LERNER (Highlands) as a metaphor of strength, generosity and mystery, reflects the philosophy behind it.
